    Paul Elliot Is The Chosen One

    His style is reminiscent of classical reggae singers of the past. Moreover, Paul Elliot, The Chosen One carries a kind a of glory in his voice. He bellows with the intensity of revolutionaries like Tosh and then again, he croons with Dennis Brown. The idea of the musician as entertainer, whilst still bearing some social responsibility has not ever been lost on him either.

    The spiritually uplifting themes and largely up tempo arrangements that form most of Elliot's works speak greatly of the quality of roots music that emerged in the mid to late nineties. Paul Elliot's work, with the likes of Everton Blender and such ilk, brought promise to a struggling genre, as it braced against the odds of the industry to bring the music full circle,

    On Tour: Toots and the Maytals Honour UK Fanbase

    Toots Hibbert could simply be a great musician making some great music. But no, he is surely more than that. The Maytals that he helped to form along with his friends Raleigh Gordon and Jerry Matthias, have been at it from 1961. So, believe it or not, it's been 50 long years since since their historic formation.Save and except for a brief disbanding in the 1980's, now that is still a hell of a machine when you really think about it. With that said, it is hard not to sing his praises.

    The band began this year in celebration mode, starting with Jamaica's own Rebel Salute in January and then a historic first time Australian tour, wrapped up of course to rave reviews. The year long celebration continues as they embark on a massive UK tour this summer

    Legendary Voice

    His catalogue includes a staggering 60 plus albums; which stretches well beyond the scope of many legends gone and many legends present. Retrospectively, his works have often been considered as a precursor to what we now often term as lovers rock. Holt is still after all a pioneer who introduced a totally different aesthetic to the Jamaican music business, and after all, still an unsung hero. Long before it was cool to blend genres, Holt played London with a full orchestra accompaniment and long before it was cool to be a lyricist, he was penning mind boggling reggae anthems.
